Simulation for Studying Social Behaviors

Abstract: Simulation is a third method for a social research besides induction and deduction. In this method, a clear method is presented and based on it, proper data is produced. The increasing growths of simulation in the last decade indicate its capabilities in the domain of social researches. In the present article, three main categories of simulation have been described: Full human, human-computer and full computer. Efforts have been made to state the practical issues of each of them within the format of proper examples. For full human simulation, some cases of international relations have been stated and also primary designs have been mentioned for social games. For full computer simulation also, the spatial game model has been used and the assumed data resulting from it has been sued in four games of prisoner dilemma, chicken game, assurance game and coordination game. As for human-computer simulation, the data of a simulation has been used to study the behavior in social dilemma. In this simulation, 50 students played with computer two games of public good dilemma and common resource dilemma. In this article, the method of this simulation and its results has been also described.
